New article: Star Ocean 3 rant
Star Ocean 3, like any current JRPG really, is a sack full of different parts done by a huge team of people in different departments. Metaphorically speaking, a pair of blank DVDs moves along a conveyor belt for a number of years and every person along the way gets a chance to add a few bits (with a blow-torch, or a hammer). There is nothing inherently wrong with the procedure as long as there's a certain amount of oversight, to ensure the product takes the desired overall direction, with some consistency. Well guess what.
In Star Ocean 3, anything goes. With no idea discarded, we get to do everything anyone ever came up with for a draft.
